UTM Link Builder
Stop guessing how your traffic is arriving. Build perfectly formatted Google Analytics tracking URLs to monitor your email, social, and ad campaigns.
How to Use
- Type the raw, unformatted link to your website in the Website URL box. Include the `https://`.
- Fill in the three mandatory parameters: Source (Where is the traffic coming from?), Medium (How is it arriving?), and Name (What is the purpose of this campaign?).
- Optional: If you are running paid Search Ads (like Google Ads), use the Term box to track exact keywords. If you are doing A/B testing on an email newsletter, use the Content box to specify which button the user clicked.
- The tool will instantly URL-encode your text and stitch it together into a single, massive link. Copy this link and paste it into your email, Facebook ad, or tweet.

What are UTM Parameters?
UTM stands for "Urchin Tracking Module". Long before Google Analytics existed, a company called Urchin developed a software to analyze web server logs. Google purchased Urchin in 2005, and their tracking standard became the backbone of the modern internet.
When you post a link to your website on Facebook, and someone clicks it, your Google Analytics dashboard will simply say the user arrived from "Facebook". That's helpful, but it's not enough data for serious marketers. Did the user click a link on your Facebook Page? Did they click a paid Facebook Advertisement? Did they click a link inside a Facebook Group?
By appending custom UTM tags to the end of your URLs, you force the user's browser to send exact, highly specific data to your Google Analytics dashboard, giving you perfect visibility into your Return on Investment (ROI).

Frequently Asked Questions
Does capitalization matter?
Yes! Google Analytics is strictly case-sensitive. If you type "Email" on Monday, and "email" on Tuesday, Google Analytics will track them as two completely separate campaigns. It is an industry best practice to use 100% lowercase letters for all UTM tags.
Can people see these tags?
Yes. The UTM parameters sit directly inside the user's browser address bar. Because of this, you should never put highly sensitive data, passwords, or inappropriate words inside your UTM tags.
Why did the tool add a `%20` to my link?
Standard URLs cannot contain blank spaces. If you type "Spring Sale", the tool automatically URL-encodes the space into `%20`. Your analytics software will automatically decode it back into a space when you read your reports.
Is it free?
Yes, 100% free with no limits.
