Use Cases

  • Database Migration: Convert exported SQL/CSV data into JSON for NoSQL databases like MongoDB.
  • Frontend Development: Transform static spreadsheet data into JSON arrays for React/Vue applications.
  • API Mocking: Quickly build mock JSON APIs from sample Excel sheets.
  • Data Analysis: Standardize messy datasets into a consistent JavaScript structure.

Understanding the Conversion Options

By default, this tool assumes the first row is a header. This means the first line of your CSV provides the "keys" for your JSON objects, and every subsequent line becomes an object in a JSON Array. If you uncheck this option, the tool will simply convert the CSV into a 2D Array (an array of arrays), completely preserving the raw row/column structure.

The Parse Numbers option attempts to automatically detect if a CSV value is a number (e.g., 150 or 12.5) and outputs it as a native JSON integer/float rather than a JSON string ("150"). This saves time manually typing conversions later.

Data Workflow

If you have JSON data that you need to convert back into a spreadsheet, simply use our JSON to CSV Converter. You can compress your resulting file using the JSON Minifier, or validate its structural integrity using the JSON Validator.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it handle commas inside quoted strings?

Yes! Our robust parsing algorithm perfectly handles standard CSV quoting. For example, "Smith, John",34 will be parsed as two columns, completely ignoring the comma inside the quotes.

Can I convert TSV (Tab-Separated) files?

Yes, just change the Delimiter option from Comma to Tab.

Is there a file size limit?

Because the tool runs entirely in your browser, the only limit is your device's memory. It handles standard multi-megabyte CSV files effortlessly without crashing.

Is my data sent to a server?

No. All parsing and conversion is done locally via JavaScript. No data leaves your machine.

Is it free?

Yes, 100% free with no limits.
